A Joyous Playce was envisioned, curated, and established by Mrs. Amber-Joy in 2018, as a
neighborhood preschool located in
the Historic West End of Atlanta.
If you are looking for the intimacy of a home based preschool, that ensures whole child development and the academic rigor of a private school, A Joyous Playce is the place to be.

The learning environment and culture of AJP honors the joys of childhood with the implementation of a play-based curriculum. Our founder and teacher, Mrs. Amber-Joy, is a 10 year veteran teacher, behavioral specialist, and child development consultant. A Joyous Playce provides a rigorous and developmentally appropriate curriculum that ensures readiness for kindergarten and beyond. Every child at AJP receives individualized intuitive guidance and support. Little ones who may not be confident in navigating social experiences learn to make friends and to advocate for themselves. Little ones who are natural-born leaders learn to lead with integrity and equitability. Our guidance model teaches children to be kind, brave, and independent and to try, try, try again. The culture of AJP is founded in inclusivity because it teaches little ones to be warm, accepting, and supportive towards all of their peers.
A Joyous Playce has a deep value for fostering healthy relationships with student families by creating an environment of open communication and collaborative student support. We use Brightwheel for daily parent engagement, to share student progress throughout the academic year, and to manage our daily administrative tasks.

In my early years of childhood, I knew I was destined to help guide and love children who represent all walks of life. It is my deepest desire to assist families in raising global citizens who are curious and respectful of others and confident in expressing their thoughts and ideas. I stand to help children find their voice so that they may learn to advocate for themselves. When children feel confident expressing themselves, they grow to feel confident in choosing paths that are best for them. When a child is confident in choosing their path, ultimately they will find their way to a life of joy. I wish for every child that I teach to grow into a happy adult who has the ability to make good choices for themselves.
I hold a Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from Spelman College, a Master's in Reading Education from Georgia Southern University, and studied Severe Disabilities and Autism at Johns Hopkins University. I am a certified teacher in the areas of elementary education and special education.
I find joy in writing, singing, visiting the beach, and exploring cultures through travel, language and cuisine.
